Turtle Lake Instruments was founded by luthier John C. Baxendale in Durango, Colorado with a simple mission: to provide the highest quality repair, setup, and restoration services for stringed instruments in the Four Corners region.
What began as a passion for building and repairing guitars has grown into a trusted destination for musicians throughout Southwest Colorado. From professional touring artists to hobbyists, we treat every instrument with the same level of care and expertise.
Beyond repairs, JC Baxendale is also a master guitar builder, crafting world-class flat top acoustic guitars that are prized for their rich tone, exceptional playability, and stunning craftsmanship. Each handmade guitar represents hundreds of hours of meticulous work.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every instrument has a voice waiting to be heard. Whether it's a vintage Martin that needs careful restoration or a new Taylor that needs its first professional setup, our job is to unlock its full potential.
